I'd never had a taco dip before, and this one was really tasty. I followed the package instructions on the taco seasoning and cooked hamburger meat with it. I couldn't find refried beans, so I just used a can of pinto beans mashed up. I mixed the mashed up beans with the taco-seasoned hamburger meat. That was my bottom later. On top of that, I added cheese, then the sour cream and cream cheese mixture. Then I added the green onions and salsa (which I strained to remove most of the juice) and the chopped tomatoes. I left out the green peppers because the salsa I used already had green peppers in it. I also left out the black olives just because I don't like them. I thought I would like this dip better warm, so I put it in a 350 degree oven just until the dip was warm/cheese was melted. Then I added finely chopped lettuce to the top. It was quite delicious. I heated some up the next day just until it was warm, and I thought it was still quite tasty. Yes, the pieces of lettuce were warm, but the pieces were so small and the whole thing was so tasty that I didn't really notice that I was eating warm lettuce. I notice a lot of reviewers have left the lettuce off over wilting concerns... but I think the lettuce added a lot to this dip. Who cares if it becomes wilted? Once your guests taste this dip, I highly doubt anyone is going to be worried about the appearance of the lettuce.
